New to the BD?
Are you new to the BD? Don't any idea what it's about and want to get into it? That's all right. We all had to start at the beginning. The battledome is a place on neopets where pets can battle each other. You can battle against computer controlled opponents and against other people's pets. Not only is the battledome a lot of fun, but you can even get trophies or avatars from battling. Sometimes people even host battledome tournaments to see who's the best. There's nothing like a little friendly competition to make things interesting.
This guide is here to take you through the neopian battledome one step at a time. Everything mentioned on this page is explained in much greater detail elsewhere in this guide, but if you just read this page, you'll know enough about the battledome to try it out for yourself. Once you're hooked, you can come back here and dive further into the realm of the neopian battledome.
Where is the Battledome?

You can get to the battledome from the shop section by clicking on the purple Cybunny. Once there, you have a lot of choices. Let's start by looking at the first three, Status, Equipment, and 1 Player.

The Status Page
The Status page shows your pets stats: Name, Species, Agility, Attack Strength, Defence Strength, Current hp, and Level. It also shows your battledome record and if you are being challenged or have challenged someone.

- Your pet's agility. Agility does not affect your performance in the BD. For the most part, it's useless.
- Attack Strength. The more strength you pet has, the more damage it can do.
- Defence. The more defence your pet has, the better it can defend itself from attacks using shields or other defensive weapons.
- Current HP. The number of hit points your pet has right now. Make sure it's full before you go into a fight by visiting the healing springs or by using healing potions. When your pet's HP reach zero, you lose the fight.
- Maximum HP. This is the max ammount of HP your pet can have.
- Level. This does directly affect the battledome, but your level limits your training.
- Your pet cannot fight if it's hungry. Make sure to feed it.
These numbers, mostly strength, defence, and hp, are very important in the battledome. The stonger you are, the more damage you'll do. The more hit points you have, the more damage you can take. These numbers are called stats. For more infornmation on how stats work, see the stats page.
In a battle, the first person to get their opponent's hp down to zero wins. The more strength you have, the quicker you'll be able to do that and the more hp you have, the longer it will take your opponents to do the same. You can train your pet to make these stats higher. For now, don't worry about training, but you will probably want to start training soon. Be sure to read our training guide.
The Equipment Page
The Equipment page shows the weapons that you have equiped to your pets. You can equip eight weapons at a time and weapons are absolutely essential in the BD. The weapons that you can use can be used to heal your own pet or damage your opponents or even stop you opponents from even fighting back for a turn. For more infornmation on the types of weapons, see the weapons page.
You're going to need a battle set. Without a good set of weapons, you wont stant a chance. Here are two good sets for begginers. If you can afford it, I'd suggest getting the second set. Even if you decide the battledome is not for you, you can easily sell them. So, go buy some weapons.

The 1 Player Page
When you're ready to test your skills for the first time, this is the place to do it. From here you can challenge computer controlled opponents. Select the pet you have equipped from the drop-down box.

Now, you can select your first opponent. Let's go with the Inflatable Balthazar. Click on "Inflatable Balthazar" in the list. You'll be taken to the battledome arena. Battledome fights are turn based. Each turn, you select 2 weapons and one ability to use. You can also type a message to your opponent. The Inflatable Balthazar, unlike most opponents, does not fight back. You can test your strongest attacks against it to see just what you can do. So, let's pick to attacking weapons, a Scarab Ring and the Scroll of Dark Nova and the ability Fierce Attack. Then, click the "go" button.

Congratulations! You've won. On the right hand side, you'll see a bunch of what we call icons. The two weapons used each did 6 icons each. The more icons done, the more damage is dealt.
Was that too easy? After all, it didn't even fight back. It's about time we take on an opponent that can defend itself, the Chia Clown. Go back to the 1 player page and challenge the Chia Clown. For the first move, use a Scarab Ring, Leaf Shield, and the defend ability.

Depending upon what the Chia Clown uses, your next page will look different than the example above. In the example, the Chia Clown attacked me, but I defended against the water attack with my Leaf Shield. The Chia Clown also defended against some of my attack with its Chia Clown Umbrella. Now, go finish the fight off on your own.
