Your Pet in the Battledome

Abilities

Each round of a BD fight, you can choose to use one ability. There are four basic types of abilities. First, there's the default abilities that everybody has. These are different from the other abilities in what they do. Then, there are the species abilities. These abilities are unique to your pet's species. Next, there are the faerie abilities which your pet gains by being blessed by bottled faeries. These are the best of the abilities. Finally, there are some abilities that were given out long ago by neopets sponsors.

Default Abilities

There are 6 default abilities. All pets have the first 5. Only pets over level 50 have berserk. They all work the same way. They multiply both the damage done to you and the damage you do to your opponent by the same number. If you were to use feirce/berserk, your pet would to a lot more damage that it would using defend, but it would also take morpe damage. If both you and your opponent used feirce, the damage dealt to each pet would be even more.

Base damage * your damage multiplier * your opponents damage multiplier = resulting damage

Cautious attack has the same multiplier as species and faerie abilities. That is, you'll do the same ammount of damage using cautious attack as you would using a faerie ability providing the ability itself doesn't do damage.

Species Abilities

Most species abilities do a couple on icons of varying types. The best tend to do 6 icons. In many cases, you species ability will be your best option. It does more damage to your opponent, but unlike the default abilities like feirce or berserk, it doesn't make the damage done to yourself greater.

Faerie Abilities

There a 6 different bottled faeriesBottled Dark FaerieBottled Light FaerieBottled Earth FaerieBottled Fire FaerieBottled Air FaerieBottled Water Faerie
Names: Bottled Dark Faerie, Bottled Light Faerie, Bottled Earth Faerie, Bottled Fire Faerie, Bottled Air Faerie, Bottled Water Faerie.
. If you bless your pet with a bottled faerie, you pet will gain the first ability for that faerie if you pet's level is high enough. The second bottled faerie will grant the second ability and so forth. If your pet's level is not high enough, the faerie will just dissapear.

Faerie abilities use up your power. Each pet starts a fight with 100% power. When your pet's power is down to zero, you can't use any abilities. That means no default abilities, species abilities, faerie abilities, or sponser abilities. It will just act as though you used cautious attack each round. Obviously, this is something to be avoided. Only use the last of your power in extreme circumstances. Each ability can also be used on strong, medium, or weak. Many abilities do the same on weak as they do on strong, but when used on weak, abilities only use 10% power. On medium, they use 20%, and 39% on strong. Because of this, it's possible to leave yourself with 1% or 2% power left. In the case of some of the best abilities, they always use 39% power even if you use them on weak.

Neopet's list of abilities

These are all the known abilities. If they're are anymore, they must have very high level requirements (tested through level 111). At this time, the level of your abilities does nothing.

Sponser Abilities

These abilities were given out long ago and are no longer avalaible.
